In the last quarter of 2009, the first Annual Meeting launched the Montana Holistic Chamber of Commerce. The seed was planted in October 2008 thanks to a presentation at the NEU Celebration-Helena Fair by Dr. Charles Lightwalker of the Washington and Spokane HCCs. Charles made similar presentations at NEU Bozeman and Missoula Fairs in 2009. Carol Wilcock, R.N., had begun the Helena Wellness Network in November of 2007 that nurtured the MtHCC movement. Meetings continued through the spring of 2009 toward developing articles of incorporation, and the October meeting was the official launch. As a 501(c)6 non profit organization, the MtHCC will facilitate holistic networking throughout Montana via statewide membership, Internet presence, local chapters and events. According to its by-laws:
The purpose of MtHCC is to help holistically-oriented businesses and individuals support and help one another to develop their businesses and practices.
The specific objectives and purposes of MtHCC will be:
(a) to provide business development support for holistic businesses and individuals through various meetings and seminars;
(b) to create an increased holistic community presence through the development of a speakers' bureau;
(c) to provide a forum in which business people of all professions can be supported and affirmed in their commitment to a holistic approach to business and life;
to engage in other activities related to supporting a holistic approach to life and business as well to educate the public of the benefits of a holistic lifestyle.
Membership in MTHCC is open to all business persons who are committed to creating a holistic community presence. Member benefits include Annual Meeting, Business networking events, Speakers Bureau, Chamber Webinars and conference calls, Event booth discounts, and a Business listing at the upcoming Chamber web site's Member Directory including description and direct link to your business website. In addition, MtHCC members may affiliate with the Holistic Chamber of Commerce Northwest USA. The HCC movement encompasses hundreds of members in over six states at this time, and the Arizona Holistic Chamber in Phoenix is spearheading a national organization of holistic chambers where individuals and businesses interested in holistic services and products can access a national community.
